The role of community development organisation Surfaid gets our praise here for their approach to psychosocial health.
Five years after the Boxing Day tsunami and while the Padang Earthquake water and bio-sanitation work continues, Surfaid have also delivered a program - Tampek Mangadu - for children and communities providing them with ways to access their strengths for future building.
This shift from relief work in crisis, to building capacity in places where crisis is part of the geological risk of life, gets our vote as heading towards the apithological. Adding a biopsychosocial focus, is where it all comes together.
